Burnished Bronze Suffers Broken Leg
Burnished Bronze, the 2-year-old Seattle Slew colt who had won three of four starts, took a misstep while galloping at Del Mar Saturday morning and broke two bones in his right foreleg, ending his racing career.
Burnished Bronze, owned and bred by John and Betty Mabee and trained by David Hofmans, will undergo surgery this week, possibly on Tuesday, at the San Luis Rey Equine Hospital in Bonsall.
Burnished Bronze had been expected to run Wednesday in the Balboa Stakes here.
