Board Adds 38 Campuses to Management Program

Share

The Los Angeles school board on Monday added 38 campuses to the list of schools taking part in the school-based management program, bringing the total to 78 campuses throughout the district.

The program allows school officials to move away from traditional district rules and to run their campuses using ideas generated by a panel of parents and school officials.

The campuses were allowed to take part in the program after developing plans that show their ability to measure student achievement, address the multicultural diversity of their students and involve parents in their children’s education.

Schools wishing more control through the school-based management program must obtain waivers from the district and, in some cases, from the state before being allowed to go ahead with their plans.
