PRO FOOTBALL : DAILY REPORT : RAMS : Tonight’s Game Key for Price

Share

Among the Rams who have to play well in tonight’s exhibition finale against the Houston Oilers to secure a spot on the team’s final 47-man roster is tight end Jim Price, who went into training camp as the heir apparent to Pete Holohan.

Price suffered an injured hamstring early in the exhibition season and hasn’t played much. With the recent addition of snapper Mike McDonald to steady the kicking game, Price is a luxury the Rams may not able to afford.

But coaches say Price will be given every opportunity tonight to prove otherwise, probably playing on every passing down in the first three quarters.

Injury report: Tackle Gerald Perry suffered sprained ligaments in his right knee Tuesday during practice and won’t play tonight. Robert Cox will start at left tackle. Starting left defensive end Karl Wilson has been bothered by a hamstring problem and probably won’t play. Bill Hawkins is scheduled to replace him.

Third-round cornerback Robert Bailey is practicing despite a broken left hand, but Coach John Robinson is being cautious with him, and the team may put him on the injured-reserve list on cut-down day.

Guard Duval Love is back from his sprained left knee and will make his first appearance of the exhibition season. Tailback Marcus Dupree has aggravated a problem near his big left toe and will not play.
