SPORTSCOPE : Former Palos Verdes Player Loses in Open Qualifying

Cammy MacGregor’s hopes of reaching the U.S. Open tennis tournament women’s singles main draw ended Friday with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 loss to Australia’s Louise Field in a second-round qualifying match at New York.
MacGregor, a 1987 Palos Verdes High graduate, had reached the Open’s main draw four of the past five years, advancing to the second round in 1986 and 1989.
MacGregor, 22, is ranked 170th in the Virginia Slims rankings and has earned $30,603 on the tour this year, winning 10 of 23 matches.
