DECONSTRUCTING DERRIDA

Share

The article on Jacques Derrida and his classes on deconstruction in literature was fascinating and informative. I have seen his books on the subject, and the article was an excellent review of his thought and philosophy.

I would hope that he would apply his method to the Bible instead of the writings of Rousseau, Levi-Strauss and other philosophers known only to a few philosophy majors. His method could be applied to any literature of the Western world, and the contradictions that he could expose in Western religious thought could be a new study in itself. Endlessly talking about the ideas of Western philosophers can be dry, but the Bible is so universally read that Derrida’s commentaries could shed so much more light on how we think about what we really believe and why.
