I cringe each time guests appear on nation-wide television talk shows looking like slobs, wearing hats, baggy jeans and slouch in their seats. It shows a lack of basic courtesy, respect and good manners, an attitude that has permeated the little screen.

I always look forward to actor Tony Randall’s infrequent guest visits on “The Tonight Show” (NBC). He is a classy gentleman (as are Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon), who dresses impeccably and is articulate and intelligent. And he isn’t always talking about himself, his latest role or book.
