San Dimas : Pool Open for School Use

San Dimas High School swimmers will be allowed to use the city pool after the City Council agreed Tuesday to pay some of the pool’s operating costs. Bonita Unified School District and the San Dimas High School Aquatics Boosters will also share the expenses.
During June budget deliberations, the city decided to close the pool at the San Dimas Swim & Racquet Club near the high school for nine months a year to save $18,600 in utilities costs.
The boosters, a parent support group, asked the city to keep the pool open from September through November for water polo and from February through May for the swim team and for water safety programs.
The estimated cost for the seven-month period is $14,500. The city’s share would be $4,800, plus $7,200 for a lifeguard, a building maintenance aide and a pool maintenance operator.
