Metallica shows no signs of slowing down, outdistancing the crowd on the Billboard pop album chart for the third straight week. It’s getting some help from the group’s single, “Enter Sandman,” which has climbed to No. 29 in four weeks on the pop singles chart. Bell Biv DeVoe’s album of remixed tunes, “WBBD-Bootcity,” zoomed up chart, entering at No. 20. Randy Travis’ “High Lonesome” debuted at No. 53 and could take a big jump up the chart next week. Paula Abdul’s “The Promise of a New Day” is the new No. 1 pop single.

* Though this is his first album in five years, veteran rock ‘n’ roller Bob Seger’s fans still haven’t forgotten him. His new album rocketed up the chart, debuting at a startling No. 7.
