OUTLOOK

Belanger, one of the top three quarterbacks in the league, and Ragos will be expected to carry the offensive workload this season. Belanger threw for 1,500 yards and 12 touchdowns last season with only four passes intercepted. Ragos rushed for 700 yards last season despite missing two games because of injuries. “Having a quarterback and a running back returning are our biggest strengths,” DiPalma said. “Belanger and (Brea’s Jason) Luevanos are two of the best quarterbacks in the league.” The Rebels also have a quality running back in Brown, a transfer from Santa Ana High. DiPalma said the offensive and defensive linemen average about 200 pounds each, but lack experience. “We need to develop some people there,” he said. “We’re not very big on the line, I would say about average, but we’ll be competitive. We should be right in there for a playoff spot.” Savanna’s nonleague schedule includes games against Garden Grove and Buena Park, two of the top teams in Division VI.
