Lloyd E. Bush; Retired Battalion Chief

Lloyd E. Bush, a retired Los Angeles Fire Department battalion chief, has died at his Sunland home. He was 69.

Bush died Saturday of complications of a seizure, said his wife, Marion Bush.

Born in Holdrege, Neb., Bush came to California in the late 1930s and served in the Navy during World War II.

In 1947, he joined the Los Angeles Fire Department and worked at stations throughout Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley.

Bush later became a battalion chief in charge of stations in the East Valley. Following his retirement in 1978, Bush worked as a fire safety officer at various movie locations.

Bush had also been chairman of the supervisory committee of the Los Angeles Firemen’s Credit Union.

In addition to his wife of 48 years, Bush is survived by his sons, John Bush and Bill Bush, both of Tujunga, and Jim Bush of Grants Pass, Ore.; a daughter, Carol Darnold of Sunland; a sister, Delores Latham of Gardena, and nine grandchildren.

A memorial service is planned for 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Old North Church at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Hollywood Hills.

Forest Lawn Mortuary, Hollywood Hills, is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bush’s name to the Los Angeles Firemen’s Relief Assn. Widows & Orphans & Disabled Firefighters Fund.
