OAK PARK : Hearing Delayed in Fatal Stabbing

A 21-year-old Oak Park man will be arraigned Wednesday on murder charges in the fatal stabbing of a 16-year-old, the Ventura County district attorney’s office announced Thursday.
Philip Holsborg was scheduled to be arraigned this week in connection with the slaying of Craig Hastings, but defense attorneys asked for a one-week delay, Deputy Dist. Atty. Carol Nelson said.
Nelson said that in addition to the murder charge, she will bring charges against Holsborg for the use of a deadly weapon and possession of a prohibited weapon. The weapon that killed Hastings was a pair of brass knuckles that contained a sharp dagger between the fingers, Nelson said.
Hastings died Sunday afternoon at Westlake Medical Center after being stabbed during a party Friday night at an Oak Park condominium on North Oak Hills Drive near Soledad Avenue.
Witnesses said Hastings was beaten with a baseball bat and then stabbed in the groin.
