The Ventura County Crime Stoppers Program is offering up to $1,000 for information about the whereabouts of a woman who skipped out on a jail sentence for shooting her husband in the groin.

Pearl Klenoski McClelland, 49, was serving an eight-month jail sentence in the county’s work-furlough program. She failed to return from her office job in Westlake Village to a Camarillo facility on April 4, police said.

She was convicted after shooting her husband, William McClelland, at their Westlake Village home on Aug. 19, 1990. She entered the work-furlough program Jan. 3 and was to remain there until Aug. 27.

Before the shooting, the couple were in the process of divorcing. William McClelland had moved out of the home but had returned the day of the shooting to repair a broken window.

She shot him once in the groin, the bullet narrowly missing his femoral artery, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Patricia Murphy. He managed to grab the gun, throw it in the car trunk and slam the lid shut.

During 1988 and 1989, Pearl McClelland worked as a financial adviser investing large sums of money for her clients.

She is under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department for the alleged embezzlement of $400,000 from one of her clients, police said.

Police described her as 5-foot, 7-inches and 170 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information about the location of Pearl McClelland may call Crime Stoppers at 494-TALK. Callers may remain anonymous.
