Motorbike Rider Killed in Collision
A 22-year-old woman was killed Wednesday when a tow truck collided with her motor scooter as the truck driver tried to turn, police said.
The Anaheim woman, whose name was not released pending notification of relatives, had stopped beside the truck at a red light on Lemon Street, said Officer Jeff Berns.
The woman “pulled her motor scooter between the curb and right side of the truck,” Berns said. When the light turned green, the truck turned onto the Riverside Freeway on-ramp, he said.
The protruding step on the right side of the truck apparently hit the scooter and knocked the woman underneath the truck, Berns said.
She was dead when officers arrived at 10:07 a.m., Berns said.
The truck driver was not cited, police said.
