MOORPARK : Ex-Teacher to Be Arraigned Oct. 1

An Oct. 1 arraignment has been set in Ventura Municipal County Court for a former Moorpark College teacher accused of sexually battering a former student.

Alejandro (Alex) Paredes was arrested at his Simi Valley home Tuesday and subsequently freed on $10,000 bail in connection with the May 8 incident.

Paredes allegedly invited the student to his office after speaking with her on the college grounds, according to court documents.

Once in the office, he allegedly pinned the woman to a chair and fondled her, the records state.

The 18-year-old student told investigators that she struggled with Paredes and that his actions were against her will.

Paredes declined to comment on the allegations.

The Ventura Community College District trustees voted in closed session to terminate Paredes’ employment two weeks after the incident, an action that is still under appeal.

Ventura County sheriff’s deputies, saying there was an indication that there were other complaints against Paredes in his personnel file, served a search warrant at the college this month.

The warrant was served “to determine if there were other victims or any indication of a behavioral pattern,” Deputy Robert LeMay said Thursday. He said information on other inappropriate behavior was found in the file.
