From Staff and Wire Reports
Joichiro Tatsuyoshi of Japan stopped Gregg Richardson after 10 rounds of their scheduled 12-round fight and took Richardson’s World Boxing Council bantamweight title at Osaka, Japan.
Richardson, (29-5) who was unable to answer the bell for the 11th round, managed to stay out of Tatsuyoshi’s reach in the early rounds, but Tatsuyoshi (7-0-1) began connecting as the fight wore on. By the sixth round, Richardson’s right eye was badly swollen.
