WESTERN ATHLETIC ROUNDUP : Wyoming Runs Past Texas Tech
Redshirt freshman Terrance Hendricks, who gained only 48 yards in Wyoming’s first three games, rushed for 100 yards in 22 carries and scored a touchdown as the Cowboys beat Texas Tech, 22-17, in a nonconference game Saturday at Laramie, Wyo.
Wyoming (2-2) outgained Texas Tech (1-2) 467 yards to 254 yards and held the ball for 37 minutes 19 seconds.
Nevada Las Vegas 23, New Mexico 22--Freshman Nick Garritano kicked a 28-yard field goal with four seconds left at Albuquerque, N.M., to carry the Rebels (2-1) to victory over the winless Lobos (0-4).
UNLV also got a 96-yard interception return by Rodney Mazion and an 18-yard touchdown pass from Derek Stott to John Ma’ae to overcome a 19-7 New Mexico lead.
Southern Mississippi 39, Colorado State 7--Tony Smith rushed for 144 yards and scored on a 54-yard touchdown run to lead the Golden Eagles (2-1) over the Rams (1-3) at Hattiesburg, Miss.
Texas El Paso 14, Northwestern Louisiana 0--Kenny Brown had a nine-yard touchdown run and Rickey Massey returned an interception three yards for another score as the Miners (3-1) beat their Division I-AA opponent at El Paso.
