THOUSAND OAKS : Cancer Society Given $100,000 by Amgen
The American Cancer Society received a $100,000 donation recently from a company in Thousand Oaks that develops and manufactures medical products, officials said.
Amgen Inc. donated the money to fund a two-hour documentary on surviving cancer. One of the drugs Amgen produces is Epogen, which stimulates red blood cell production to counter the anemia that afflicts kidney-disease patients.
Cancer Society officials said the film will focus on beating cancer through early detection and treatment.
The company will be recognized at a luncheon on Oct. 4 at the Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks.
