Film Group to Honor Champlin
An ad-hoc committee of film industry marketing executives will present its Charlie Award, named for the late veteran marketing executive Charles M. Powell, to Charles Champlin, recently retired arts editor of The Times.
Committee chairman Barry Lorie of MGM/Pathe said the award pays tribute to those revered within and beyond their chosen fields.
Previous recipients were outgoing Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences president Richard Kahn and former Daily Variety Editor Thomas M. Pryor.
A luncheon/roasting is scheduled today at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel.
