Helen C. Kennon, a 45-year Thousand Oaks resident and owner of Lynn Ranch, died Monday at her home after a bout with cancer. She was 84.
Born Helen Kaiser in McHenry, Ill., in 1907, Kennon moved to Thousand Oaks in the late 1940s with her husband, Ted Lynn, then owner of an aircraft parts company in Glendale.
Kennon and her husband owned a sprawling property that later came to be known as the Lynn Ranch, where they raised cattle, horses and sheep. In 1957, it was developed into one of the city’s first housing tracts by the Janss Investment Corp.
She later married Russell Kennon, who died in 1986. Kennon is survived by a brother, Frank Kaiser, and nephew and niece James and Judy Kaiser, all of Illinois.
Services will be held Saturday at the Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Mortuary.
