Pacific Converts Turnovers to Touchdowns in 35-7 Win

Pacifica High School made the most of its opportunities, coverting three turnovers into touchdowns en route to a 35-7 nonleague victory over Glenn at Bolsa Grande High.

Derek Nicholson opened the scoring with a six-yard touchdown run on the Mariners’ first play from scrimmage. Brian Danskin set up the score, recovering a fumbled punt at the Eagles’ six-yard line less than two minutes into the game.

Glenn turned the ball over on its first three possessions and six times during the game.

Eric Stevens made it 14-0 with a 60-yard punt return with 56 seconds left in the first quarter. Nicholson, who finished the game with 72 yards in nine carries, scored his second touchdown of the game midway through the second quarter on a 40-yard run, giving Pacifica a 21-0 advantage.

Pacifica got the ball back less than two minutes later when Scott Probst came up with his second interception of the game. Mariner quarterback Dan Murray then connected with Danskin on a 23-yard scoring pass to make it 28-0 at halftime.

Danskin completed Pacifica’s scoring with three minutes left in the third quarter when he picked up an Eagle fumble and returned it six yards for his second touchdown, making it 35-0.

Pacifica (2-1) lost the shutout when Glenn running back Adrian Eppinger broke free around the right side for a 35-yard touchdown run with 1:31 left to play in the game.
