Covina : Panel Supports Rail Station
The Planning Commission found that noise and traffic would increase only slightly if a proposed commuter rail station is built on Citrus Avenue.
The commission’s decision last Tuesday sent a green light to the City Council to work with the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission, which plans a commuter rail line from downtown Los Angeles to San Bernardino.
At a Sept. 17 council meeting, some residents complained that the station would increase noise and traffic and decrease their property values. The council sent the proposal to the commission.
Besides approving the station, the commission suggested that the city install a surveillance camera with hookups to the police dispatch center, build spacious parking stalls and work with residents to resolve their concerns.
The council will vote on the proposal Tuesday.
