A 16-year-old Linda Vista boy was killed Friday night in an apparent drive-by shooting in his neighborhood, San Diego police said.
Officers were called to the 6700 block of Kelly Street to investigate reports that a youth had been shot in the upper body in a gang-related incident.
Kenneth O’Brien had been standing in a neighbor’s yard talking with several friends when a single shot was fired from a tan or gray vehicle that passed on the street, carrying several male occupants, investigators said.
Friends carried O’Brien across the street to his home and he was later taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where he died a short time later.
The investigation is continuing.
