Union Bank has donated $25,000 to Orange Coast College to help renovate the Robert B. Moore Theatre.
The college is revitalizing the 36-year-old, 1,200-seat theater in three phases at a cost of $6 million. Phase one calls for installation of air conditioning, new seats, enhanced acoustics, new lighting, an upgraded electrical system and improved access for the handicapped.
More than 160 new theater seats have been purchased at a cost of $40,000, funded through individual donations. The seats, which will include donor plaques, are being sold for $250 each.
The second phase will feature the addition of a complete fly loft for the theater’s stage.
The final phase will include the addition of an enclosed lobby, new ticket offices and a complete remodeling of restroom facilities.
