Woman Killed in Apparent Case of Gang Retaliation
One woman was shot to death and two other people were wounded in an apparent gang retaliation for a stabbing, authorities said.
Annie Johnson, 30, died at Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center on Sunday after being struck in the hip by a round from a high-powered rifle, said Sheriff’s Deputy George Ducoulombier.
Dan Hubert, 32, and Venice Hughes, 28, also were shot in the Saturday night attack in South-Central Los Angeles. Hubert, shot in the chest, was in critical but stable condition at St. Francis Medical Center. Hughes was in stable condition at the same hospital with a leg wound, Ducoulombier said.
