COLLEGE FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : UCLA : Lambert, Smith Sidelined
Coach Terry Donahue said that cornerback Dion Lambert and fullback Kevin Smith will not play against California on Saturday at the Rose Bowl because of injuries.
Lambert is recovering from a torn ligament in his right foot, and Smith has a sprained left knee.
Others whose statuses are questionable because of injuries are defensive tackle Brian Kelly, offensive guard Mike Linn and reserve cornerback Robert Gamble.
UCLA ranks first in passing offense in the Pacific 10, averaging 280.3 yards. The Bruins are sixth in rushing, averaging 173.7 yards.
UCLA is seventh in total defense, yielding an average of 372.7 yards. However, the Bruins are second in rushing defense, giving up an average of 94.7 yards.
