VENTURA : Court Building Fleas Get Death Sentence
The heat wave has brought an explosion of fleas, as any besieged dog owner will tell you.
But who would have thought that the pesky critters would invade the inner sanctum of Ventura County law enforcement?
They have.
At 5 p.m. Wednesday, deputy district attorneys, their investigators and staff were forced to evacuate their third-floor quarters in the court building at the County Government Center so it could be fumigated.
“Don’t ask me how the fleas got here,” said a prosecutor, “but we’ve seen them jumping around.”
As for the spraying, an investigator said: “It’s a new form of flea-bargaining.”
