Actor Adam Rich Pleads No Contest to Trespassing

In a plea bargain, television actor Adam Rich on Thursday pleaded no contest in San Fernando Municipal Court to a charge of trespassing rather than a charge of shoplifting at a Northridge department store.

Under the agreement, Rich, 22, will be sentenced Oct. 16 to two years’ probation and a $250 fine. He also will be required to attend 104 meetings of Narcotics Anonymous.

Los Angeles Deputy City Atty. Allan A. Nadir said he agreed to drop the original petty theft charge, noting that it may have been difficult to prove an intent to steal because Rich was under the influence of drugs at the time and does not recall taking the items.

Rich, best know as the youngest child on the series “Eight Is Enough,” was arrested April 16 on suspicion of shoplifting sunglasses and a pair of socks at a Bullock’s in Northridge.

His arrest came a day after he had been charged with a burglary and reckless driving after allegedly breaking into a West Hills pharmacy. On Wednesday he was ordered to stand trial on those charges in Van Nuys Superior Court. His arraignment is scheduled Oct. 16.
