COLLEGE FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : UCLA : Cal Ranks No. 1 in Scoring Offense
California, UCLA’s opponent at the Rose Bowl Saturday, is being compared to the 1975 Cal team, which had exceptional offensive balance.
That season, the Bears compiled identical yardage passing and running, 2,522.
The current team is averaging 280 yards rushing and and 243.7 yards passing per game. Moreover, Cal ranks No. 1 nationally in scoring offense, averaging 50.3 points.
That average was helped considerably by a season-opening 86-24 victory over Pacific.
The Bruins have not won consecutive games since 1989, when they beat California, 24-6, and Arizona State, 33-14.
