A Thousand Oaks woman was kidnaped from her car, beaten, sexually assaulted and robbed Friday morning by two men at her apartment complex, authorities said.

The victim, a woman in her mid-20s, was approached by a man after she parked her car at her apartment on Gainsborough Road near Tuolomne Avenue about 3 a.m., said Detective Mike Powers of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.

“She exited her car, and the suspect suddenly appeared in front of her,” Powers said. The woman immediately ran to her car and locked herself in, but the man broke a window and pulled her out, Powers said.

He then beat her, demanded her money and dragged her to a nearby car where another man was waiting and threw her inside, Powers said.

“She fought like hell,” he added.

At least one of the two men tried to rape her in the car as they drove with the victim for about a mile, Powers said. Finally, they took her purse and dropped her off near Janss Road, east of Los Robles Regional Medical Center, Powers said.

After getting help from a nearby resident, the woman was treated for moderate injuries at the hospital and later released, Powers said.

No witnesses have been found, but one person at the victim’s apartment complex called authorities when he heard the woman scream, Powers said.
