Baldwin Park : Recycling Permit Denied

Share

The City Council voted 3 to 2 Wednesday to deny a permit for a recycling center to operate in an industrial park.

The proposal for a sorting facility for recyclable materials such as aluminum, plastics and newspaper, to be operated by Waste Management of San Gabriel/Pomona Valley, drew protests from the owners and tenants of the Baldwin Commerce Center.

Business owners in the industrial complex, at Live Oak Avenue and Commerce Drive, described it as the premier business park in the San Gabriel Valley and said its image would be damaged by the noise and traffic of recycling trucks bringing in material to be sorted and shipped out daily.
