A La Jolla shop owner Friday evening shot and wounded one of two reportedly drunken men she said became disorderly and threw clothes at her, police said.

One of the men, who was not identified, was listed in good condition Saturday night suffering from a gunshot wound to the hip. He was under police guard at Scripps La Jolla Hospital, authorities said.

The second man, Robert Sills, 27, was arrested on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, police said.

The shop owner, whom police did not identify, told officers that the men were apparently intoxicated when they entered Designer Consigner, in the 800 block of Kline Street, about 5:30 p.m.

The men began throwing clothes at her and she ordered them to leave, firing two shots as a warning. Both men left, but one returned moments later and came at her. The owner then shot him once in the hip.
