The Lakers ended their stay here Saturday night with an intrasquad game, won by the regulars over the reserves, 107-98.

Elden Campbell, lethargic early in camp, scored 23 points for the reserves and blocked three shots.

“I liked the way Elden has picked it up the last two days a whole lot, which is good to see,” Coach Mike Dunleavy said.

Magic Johnson gave some of the credit to new Laker Jack Haley.

“Elden has played better since Jack arrived,” Johnson said. “Jack’s pushing his butt more.”

Tony Smith, battling to stay in the rotation after the acquisition of Sedale Threatt, made eight of 15 shots, including three three-pointers. Dunleavy says Smith “has had a great camp.”

Said General Manager Jerry West: “Tony Smith is a completely different player than he was last year at this time.”

The Lakers will practice in Los Angeles for three days. They will then fly to the East Coast for two exhibitions against the Boston Celtics, then to Paris for the McDonald’s Classic Oct. 18-19.
