Discount Deals Offered by Hotel Chains for Weekend Travel

Red Lion Hotels & Inns is offering a “Twice as Nice” promotion at 46 hotels in the Western states. If you stay Friday, Saturday or Sunday night at the regular weekend rate, you get that same room for half-price for a second night, or a second room on the same night.

The offer is valid through Dec. 30, and includes hotels in Santa Barbara, San Jose, Sacramento and San Diego.

Weekend rates generally run between $49 and $79 per night on a single- or double-occupancy basis.

Homewood Suites has a weekend deal in which you get a suite on Friday, Saturday or Sunday nights, plus a Hertz rental car, for $79 per night.

Complimentary continental breakfast is included.

The offer is valid through Dec. 31. The suites, with separate sleeping and living areas, include fully equipped kitchens. Figure on up to five people in a suite.

Homewood has 19 participating hotels in such cities as Dallas, Orlando/Kissimmee, Fla., Atlanta, Chicago, Savannah, Ga., Omaha, Neb., Memphis, Tenn., Hartford, Conn., Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Detroit and Dayton, Ohio.

Stouffer Hotels, in honor of the 50th anniversary of U.S. Savings Bonds, is offering a $50 bond to guests who stay one night at regular rates at any of its hotels throughout the continental United States. The offer is good through Dec. 30.

Guests receive a certificate at checkout time that can be redeemed for the bond.

Special programs are beginning to surface at some hotels for skiers. The Crested Butte Mountain Resort in Colorado offers free ski-lift tickets from Nov. 27 through Dec. 14.

In addition, beginners can take free lessons during the same time period in a “Learn to Ski Free” program. Surprisingly, you don’t have to stay at the resort to take advantage of either offer.

Children 13 and under ski free at the Snow King Resort in Jackson Hole, Wyo., when an accompanying adult staying at the hotel buys a lift ticket at the Snow King Ski Area.

In addition, children 13 and under stay free at the hotel when sharing a room with at least one adult. The offer is good throughout the 1991-92 ski season.
