HUNTINGTON BEACH : Schools Foundation Plans Fund-Raisers

Share

A recently formed private fund-raising arm of the Ocean View School District will begin its effort next month to collect money to help school programs.

The Ocean View Education Foundation, which has held eight organizational meetings since forming in April, plans to start its fund-raising effort with a membership-drive event on Nov. 2, chairman Randall J. Clifford said.

At that event, to be held at Ocean View’s district offices, parents and other residents may purchase charter memberships to the foundation. Memberships are $25 for families or individuals, and $100 for corporate sponsorships.

California Angels pitcher Bert Blyleven is serving as the group’s honorary chairman and is expected to attend the inaugural fund-raising gathering.

After a year of planning, the Ocean View foundation was formed this year to solicit financial support for school programs to help cope with budget constraints that have hit school districts statewide.
