SEAL BEACH : Council to Consider Boundary Proposals

Share

The City Council this week accepted the recommendations of a committee charged with establishing new boundaries for council districts.

The committee’s suggestions are based on information from the 1990 census and are aimed at making the population in each of the districts equal.

The council will hold a special meeting Oct. 21 to consider the committee’s recommendations and will also be listening to suggestions from the public. A final decision on the issue is expected at the council’s Oct. 28 meeting.

In preliminary discussion of the proposed boundaries, the council agreed that the suggestions for Districts 2, 4 and 5 are acceptable.

There are still some questions, however, about the boundaries for Districts 1 and 3. The committee also submitted five alternatives for Districts 1 and 3 to the council.
