COLLEGE FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : UCLA : Williams’ Status Still a Question
Every week, UCLA Coach Terry Donahue is asked whether Kevin Williams has become the starting tailback.
Williams has the best statistics, having gained 314 yards for an average of 5.7 yards a carry. He also has the most carries, 55, compared to 27 for Ricky Davis and 25 for Shawn Wills.
“I’m very pleased with Kevin’s progress,” Donahue said. “He’s continuing to make a very substantial development as a running back. We’re getting much more production out of him than we ever have. Kevin is coming off the bench and playing like he’s the first-string tailback.”
Donahue wouldn’t say, though, whether Williams will start against Arizona Saturday night at the Rose Bowl.
The Bruins were scheduled to play Oregon State in a 1 p.m. game on Oct. 19 at Corvallis, Ore. The game has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. and will be televised by Prime Ticket.
