Bryant Jackson, Loara’s 290-pound tackle, is getting a lot of attention from college scouts based on his performance in Dick Lascola’s Scouting Evaluation Assn. Football Combine held last spring at Warren High School in Downey.

Lascola invited 150 players from throughout Southern California to perform in six tests, and the results were videotaped and mailed to colleges throughout the nation.

Jackson was the sixth-strongest player at the combine, bench-pressing 185 pounds 23 times. He also was timed at 5.1 in the 40-yard dash and had a vertical jump of 27 inches.

“He tested very well in the agility drills for a guy his size,” Lascola said. “I’m sure a lot of colleges will be interested in him.”

Two other county players also posted good marks. Garden Grove tight end Adrian Ioja had the best time in the four-cone agility drill and Valencia wide receiver Korey Alexander had the best time in the 40-yard pro agility drill.

“Basically, it’s a down year in Southern California,” Lascola said. “There were no real surprises at the camp. The numbers just aren’t there this year.”
