Santee
Federal and local authorities in Santee arrested a serial rapist who had escaped from a Florida prison three years ago, police said Thursday.
Raymond Leslie Huntley, 41, was arrested at 2 p.m. Monday in Santee as he was apparently leaving town, San Diego police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
Huntley, who also goes by the name Thomas L. Dixon, had been living in La Mesa and Santee since January, and was working as an auto body repairman. U.S. marshals were tipped off on Huntley’s whereabouts and had been tracking him for several weeks.
In 1984, Huntley was sentenced to 85 years in prison on 15 counts of rape, and assault and burglary charges. He escaped from Lake County Federal Penitentiary in October, 1988, by scaling a pipe he leaned against a prison wall.
