Mike McCallum battered Nicky Walker from the opening bell and stopped him after five rounds in a scheduled 10-round super middleweight bout at Las Vegas. McCallum, the World Boxing Assn. middleweight champion from New York, is 42-1 with 34 knockouts. Walker is 40-10-2.
McCallum is scheduled to meet International Boxing Federation middleweight champion James Toney in a title unification bout in December.
