Pole-sitter Ricky Craven won his first Busch Grand National race, taking the lead from defending points champion Chuck Bown on the 239th lap of the Chevy Dealers of New England 250 and winning by 15 car lengths at Loudon, N.H.

Craven, in a Chevrolet, averaged 90.789 m.p.h. around the mile oval at New Hampshire International Speedway. Bown, driving a Pontiac, was second.

Harry Gant, the 51-year-old who had won the last three Grand National races and seven of his last nine starts overall, finished third in a Buick.
