La Canada Flintridge : Hearing on Graffiti Set
- Share via
The City Council will hold a public hearing at its Oct. 28 meeting on a proposed anti-graffiti ordinance.
The ordinance would provide funds for quick removal, either by the city or property owners, of existing graffiti and would require anyone caught writing graffiti to pay restitution.
Although conceding that graffiti is not now a major problem in the city, Public Safety Commission member Wes Seastrom urged the council last week to adopt the ordinance as a precaution.
“Graffiti breeds on itself,” Seastrom said. “It appears on walls and others want to put their mark on it. The best way to prevent it is to get rid of it as soon as you can.”
The meeting was rescheduled from its usual day Monday to allow members to attend a meeting of the League of California Cities in Sacramento.
