PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : Not Much Chance of Lifting Blackout

Share

Sunday’s Raider-Ram game probably will not be televised locally.

Raider executive assistant Al LoCasale said the Raiders had sold 71,000 tickets by Wednesday morning, which means that they would have to sell 21,488 more tickets by 1 p.m. today to sell out the Coliseum and lift the TV blackout.

Raider tailback Marcus Allen, expected to return to practice this week, will be held out another week to allow his knee injury to heal.

“We decided not to go with him this week,” Coach Art Shell said. “The decision has been made that we will allow him to work on his own. He won’t work with the squad.”

Because of the emergence of rookie tailback Nick Bell, who gained 75 yards in 16 carries during Sunday’s 23-20 overtime victory over the Seahawks in Seattle, the Raiders figure they can rest Allen for another week.

Injury report: Raider guard Max Montoya (groin) is doubtful and guard Steve Wisniewski (neck) is probable.
