PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : RAMS : Lyght Expects to Face Raiders

No. 1 pick Todd Lyght, who missed last week’s game with a sprained ankle, says he probably will be able to play Sunday against the Raiders.

“It’s coming along really well,” Lyght said Wednesday. “It feels really good. I’m going to practice tomorrow. If it feels tomorrow like it does today, I think I’ll be able to play Sunday.”

Lyght missed the first two games of the season because of a strained hip muscle and general rustiness after a long holdout in training camp, and was just about to get some serious playing time before his most recent injury.

“Going into the San Diego game, I was going to play a lot,” Lyght said. “They had me set up in the defensive scheme. I was hoping to get up to about 30 plays in that game.

“It was frustrating, but it just takes time because I know sooner or later I’m going to be in there helping this team win. And that’s the most important thing.

“It’s tough. I only got hurt one time in college, and here I’ve already missed three games.”
