The Gulls won their third consecutive game Thursday, 6-2 over the Phoenix Roadrunners in front of 6,500 at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

The victory was keyed by three special-teams goals in the second period.

The Gulls (4-4) ended a six-game road trip with a 3-3 record and are in third place in the International Hockey League’s West Divison, two points behind Peoria and four points behind first-place Kansas City.

“When we were 1-4 with three games left on the trip, all I said was, ‘Let’s just work hard,’ ” Gulls Coach Don Waddell said. “The win in Peoria gave us so much momentum and confidence.”
