Baldwin Park : 2 on Station Design Team
Mayor Bette L. Lowes and Councilman Martin Gallegos will serve on a selection team for the design of a commuter rail station to be built across from City Hall.
The council Wednesday unanimously appointed them to the team and voted to begin to assess the qualifications of six firms that have expressed interest in building the station.
The Los Angeles County Transportation Commission is building a commuter rail line that will link Los Angeles and San Bernardino.
Ellen Volmert, assistant to the city manager, told the council that rail service is scheduled to begin in October, 1992, and the station needs to be built as soon as possible.
