HERALD EX MARKS THE SPOT

Share

I wish reviewer Robert Sherrill (Curt Gentry’s “J. Edgar Hoover,” Sept. 8) had given the recently departed Los Angeles Herald Examiner (oh how I miss it!) credit for being the only newspaper, that I’m aware of, that called, in an editorial a few years back, for the removal of J. Edgar Hoover’s name from the FBI building.

And this before it was revealed that the FBI traded data with bar examiners on aspiring lawyers, kept an eye on Walt Disney, and kept tabs on some 50 prominent authors, (Hemingway, Steinbeck, Auden and Capote, to name a few).
