Oblomov (Bravo Monday at 9:30 p.m.). One of Soviet director Nikita Mikhalkov’s exquisite period pieces, a warm and sensuous adaptation of Ivan Goncharov’s 1858 novel about an indolent aristocrat (Oleg Tabakov), who emerges as a universal, deeply moving figure.

Boyfriends and Girlfriends (Bravo Thursday at 5 p.m., again at 9:30 p.m.) The sixth installment of Eric Rohmer’s “Comedies and Proverbs” glows with the French filmmaker’s characteristically bemused, compassionate observation of the complications of romantic love, this time focusing on two young women and the men in their lives.

Anna (Cinemax Thursday at 6 p.m.) This 1987 film is the best kind of surprise--a small, frequently funny, fine-boned film that becomes unexpectedly a consummate study of love, alienation and loss. In a blazing comet of a performance, Sally Kirkland plays a one-time Czech movie star.
