A La Puente man is to be arraigned today in Rio Hondo Municipal Court in El Monte on felony charges in the weekend shooting of three teen-age girls at a high school carnival in Valinda.

Sal Najera, 24, was arrested Sunday night for investigation of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly fired at four sheriff’s deputies working as security guards at the event at Bishop Amat High School on Fairgrove Avenue.

The deputies were approaching a group of 10 men in the parking lot about 8 p.m. Sunday when six shots were fired, authorities said. Claudia Luna, 16, of La Puente, and Maribel Gonzalez Mabale, 14, of West Covina were both hit in the leg and were treated at a hospital and released. Jessica Ann Muro, 16, of Hacienda Heights was struck in the ankle and was in good condition at Whittier Hospital Medical Center.
