CSUN’s Ojomoh to Miss Game Against Cal Poly SLO Because of Knee Injury

Inside linebacker O. J. Ojomoh, the second-leading tackler on the Cal State Northridge football team, will miss Saturday’s game against Cal Poly San Luis Obispo because of a sprained right knee.

Ojomoh suffered the injury midway through the third quarter of CSUN’s 45-27 win over Santa Clara on Saturday. He underwent a magnetic resonance imaging test Tuesday that revealed “a little stretching and a slight tear” in the ligament, according to Northridge Coach Bob Burt.

There is a possibility, Burt said, that Ojomoh could recover in time for CSUN’s homecoming game Nov. 2 against Southern Utah.

Ojomoh, a junior transfer from Riverside College, has made 61 tackles, caused one fumble, deflected two passes and recorded three quarterback hurries.

Bryon Ward, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound junior transfer from Chaffey College, will replace Ojomoh. In a reserve role and on special teams, Ward has made 23 tackles--16 unassisted--and recovered a fumble.

An exceptional open-field tackler, Ward twice has been named special-teams player of the week.
