In the Orange League:

Savanna 28, Anaheim 17--Brad Belanger’s three touchdown passes were a key for Savanna at Glover Stadium.

The victory gave Savanna (4-2-1, 2-0) sole possession of first place for at least 24 hours, pending the result of tonight’s Western-Valencia game.

Belanger (eight for 13 attempts, 68 yards) completed a four-yard scoring pass to Hieu Nguyen in the first quarter, an 11-yarder to Paul Waldrop in the second and a four-yarder to Paul Phelan in the fourth quarter. He also completed two conversions to Scott Bird.

Jeff Ragos gained 199 of Savanna’s 251 yards rushing in 27 carries.

For Anaheim (2-5, 0-2), Che Garcia gained 96 of its 106 yards rushing in eight carries. He also broke three Savanna tackles to score on a 15-yard run in the final nine seconds of the first half, narrowing Savanna’s lead to 12-9.

But Savanna went back in front, 20-9, with a 14-play, 71-yard drive to open the second half. Curtiss Morris scored on a two-yard run with 5:24 left in the third quarter.
